The candlelight flickered across Grace's anxious face as she stared at the three men kneeling before her. Each held out a velvet box, their eyes brimming with hope, love, or, perhaps, expectation. She inhaled deeply, her heart hammering in her chest.

She was about to make the most important decision of her life.

The first man, Daniel, a wealthy businessman, flipped open a box to reveal an opulent diamond ring, its facets capturing the glow of the chandelier above. The moment she slipped it onto her finger, her vision blurred, and she was transported into a luxurious future.

A sprawling mansion. Endless galas. A life of affluence—but cold, detached. She saw herself dressed in designer gowns but eating alone at an extravagant dinner table. Her husband’s back was always turned, his phone glued to his hand.

She blinked, pulled off the ring, and shuddered.

The second man, Leo, a charismatic adventurer, presented a simple yet elegant sapphire ring. When she put it on, another vision took over.

She was in a small but cozy home, their laughter filling the air as they cooked together. Spontaneous road trips. Passionate embraces under the moonlight. Yet, the joy was laced with instability—moving from place to place, constant uncertainty, love on fire, but burning too quickly.

Grace hesitated, then slowly removed the ring.

Finally, she turned to Oscar. The quiet, nerdy guy who had been her childhood friend. He opened his palm, revealing not a gold band, not a diamond—but a thin, twisted piece of wire. A makeshift ring.

She almost laughed, but curiosity won. With trembling fingers, she slid it on.

And suddenly, she saw her future.

A modest apartment filled with warmth. Nights spent reading by the fireplace. Laughter over burnt pancakes. Arguments that ended in understanding. A man who would hold her when she cried, who would kiss her forehead in the morning, who would never make her feel alone.

Tears welled up in her eyes. She looked at Oscar, who nervously adjusted his glasses.

“I know it’s not much,” he murmured. “But I swear, I’ll love you with everything I have.”

A slow smile spread across her lips.

She turned to the other two men, their faces hopeful, expectant. Then, without another word, she took off the sapphire ring, then the diamond one, and placed them gently back in their boxes.

Finally, she looked at Oscar, the wire still wrapped around her finger.

“I choose you.”

His breath hitched, his eyes widening.

“Really?”

She nodded, gripping his hands. “A ring doesn’t make a marriage. Love does.”

The room was silent for a moment, then erupted in murmurs and gasps. But Grace didn’t care. As she looked into Oscar’s stunned yet overjoyed face, she knew—she had seen the future.

And it was exactly where she wanted to be.
