Aiden stood in the grand hall, scanning the silhouettes of the five women standing behind the velvet curtain. This was his game, his test—to find the most "perfect" girl. Beauty, grace, and elegance mattered above all. His eyes roamed downward, examining their legs, searching for the pair that would capture his attention.

Then, he saw them—slender, delicate feet peeking out from beneath a flowy dress. "Perfect," he whispered, pointing at the girl behind the curtain. "You. Step forward."

The curtain parted, and out rolled Mia—on a wheelchair.

A hush fell over the room, then the other women giggled, their laughter sharp as shattered glass. Aiden stiffened, his face burning with embarrassment. He hadn’t expected this. He had chosen her feet, but now all he could see was the wheelchair.

Mia met his gaze, her eyes a calm ocean against the storm of whispers around them. “Still think I’m perfect?” she asked, her voice steady but laced with challenge.

The ballroom glittered with chandeliers as the music swelled. The competition wasn’t over yet—Aiden had planned a final round: a dance. He had imagined himself lifting a girl in his arms, twirling her under the golden lights, losing himself in a moment of passion. But now...

“You know he’s only making you dance so he can eliminate you, right?” one of the other contestants sneered at Mia. “How can you possibly compete with us?”

Mia’s fingers tightened on the wheels of her chair. Maybe they had an advantage over her. Maybe Aiden only saw her as a mistake. But she wasn’t going to give up.

Aiden turned, watching her from across the room. His past relationships had been with models—tall, stunning, always ready to follow his lead. But Mia... she wasn’t just another pretty face. She was different.

“Shall we dance?” Mia’s voice cut through the noise, reaching Aiden like a whisper in the wind.

The room fell silent as she wheeled toward him. The challenge in her eyes was undeniable. Aiden hesitated—this wasn’t how it was supposed to go. But then, she grabbed his hand.

“If you catch me, it’s your last chance.”

She spun her chair, gliding effortlessly across the floor. Aiden’s heart pounded. He chased after her, weaving between couples, the rhythm of the music pulsing between them. And then, he caught her.

Her laughter filled the space between them, warm and electrifying. For the first time, he wasn’t looking at her chair—he was looking at her.

“I caught you,” he murmured.

“Then never let me go.”

At that moment, something shifted. It wasn’t lust—it was deeper, more profound. He wanted to know her, to understand the fire behind her eyes, the story she carried in her bones. His world tilted, and for the first time, he was the one who felt unsteady.

The competition ended, but Aiden no longer cared about the prize. Mia had won something much greater—his heart.

“You still choose me?” she asked softly.

Aiden knelt beside her, taking her hands in his. "You don’t need glass slippers," he whispered. "You deserve to be carried in my arms for the rest of your life."

And as he lifted her, she knew—sometimes, love isn’t about finding the perfect person. It’s about seeing someone’s soul, and realizing that perfection was never what mattered in the first place.
