The salty spray kissed Alex's face as Peter, her fiancé, knelt on the deck. "Will you marry me?" he asked, his voice thick with manufactured romance.
"I do!" Alex breathed, her heart soaring as she reached for the ring. But as her fingers brushed the cold metal, the boat lurched violently. The ring slipped, a tiny sparkle swallowed by the churning water.
"You clumsy fool! Do you know how much that cost?" Peter roared, his face contorted with rage.
Panic seized Alex. "I'm sorry, I'll go get it!" she cried, scrambling towards the edge.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the depths. Water streamed from his dark hair as he held the lost ring between his lips. He swam closer, and with a swift movement, placed the ring back on Alex’s finger, his lips brushing hers in a fleeting kiss.
Peter's fury reached a boiling point. "What the hell are you doing?" he shrieked, grabbing Alex. Before she could react, he shoved her overboard and sailed away, leaving her adrift.
Gasping for air, Alex struggled to a small, sandy desert island. Exhausted and alone, she saw the mysterious man watching her from the shallows. She had no choice but to stay.
Days blurred into weeks. The man, who introduced himself only as Cruiser, was resourceful and strong. He built them shelter, speared fish with incredible speed, and taught Alex how to survive. His touch, his voice, ignited a spark within her, a warmth that had been absent in her relationship with Peter. On this isolated island, amidst the constant threat of the unknown, an unexpected love blossomed.
One evening, Cruiser presented her with a necklace crafted from shells and luminous pearls. "The queen of the island should wear royal jewelry," he murmured, his eyes filled with a tenderness that made Alex's heart ache.
"Tell me your name," she whispered, longing to know everything about him.
"Doesn't matter. What really matters is this," he replied, leaning in for a kiss that spoke volumes of their shared experience, their growing passion.
But their idyllic existence shattered with the arrival of a ship. Peter stood on the deck, his face a mask of forced remorse. "Honey, it's time to go home. Let him go. You're coming with me."
Torn, Alex looked at Cruiser, his eyes pleading. "No! Let me go to him!" she cried.
Peter grabbed her arm. "Annie, Annie, forgive me. Forget about him. Our honeymoon is still waiting, right?"
Cruiser’s eyes flashed with hurt. "Annie?"
Confusion washed over Alex. "Wait… I’m not going anywhere until you finally say your name."
"I'm Alex," he finally whispered, his gaze locking with hers.
A gasp escaped Alex’s lips. "I’m Alex too."
Peter’s face twisted in disbelief. The realization dawned on him: the man she had found solace and love with on this desert island shared her very name. The implications hung heavy in the air as the ship waited, their future uncertain amidst the shifting sands of betrayal and newfound passion.
