"You need to understand, this kid is going to be a huge burden," Baxter hissed, his voice laced with cold finality. "I'm going to be a professional athlete, you're going to Earth Academy. This is going to ruin our lives. Listen, the last thing I want right now is to be a father. You need to get rid of it, or it's over between us." He turned, the sound of his cleats tapping against the hallway floor, "I have to go to practice. I hope you make the right decision."

The ambulance sirens wailed, slicing through the quiet residential street. Molly, a young, driven doctor, watched as Donni, pale and trembling, was wheeled into the ER. "Gastric lavage, stat!" she barked, her voice sharp and focused. "Autointoxication. We need to stabilize her."

Later, in the quiet of Donni's room, Molly sat beside the girl's bed. "Donni, why?" she asked gently, her voice soft. "Why did you do this?"

Tears streamed down Donni's face. "I... I was trying to get rid of it," she choked out. "I'm pregnant. And... he doesn't want it."

Molly's heart sank. "Who's the father?"

"It doesn't matter," Donni sobbed. "Miss Palmer, I don't want this baby. Please... can you help me?"

A chill ran down Molly’s spine. Donni had been alone. So, who called the ambulance?

Days later, Molly confronted Dr. Gibson, a seasoned physician with a haunted look. "I need a referral to gynecology," she said, her voice firm. "My patient, Donni, she’s seventeen. The father’s name is Baxter Newman. He doesn’t want the baby."

Gibson’s face paled. “Molly, this is… complicated.”

“Complicated?” Molly’s voice rose, “She almost died, Gibson!”

Later that day, Gibson pulled Molly aside. “Your mother… Steph… she was an incredible intern here.” His voice was thick with emotion. “She was… raped. By another intern.”

“And you know who it was?” Molly gasped.

“Rumors,” Gibson mumbled. “Disturbing rumors.”

Molly found Baxter at his home, a sprawling mansion. "I'm here to stop you from making the worst mistake of your life," she said, handing him an envelope. Inside was an ultrasound.

Baxter, his bravado crumbling, rushed to the hospital. "I called the ambulance," he confessed, his voice trembling. "I was wrong. I'll never run away again. We're keeping the baby."

Molly watched, a mix of relief and lingering unease swirling inside her. Gibson’s revelation about her mother, the unanswered questions, they hung heavy in the air.

Later, Gibson handed Molly a folded note. “This is from your mother.”

She opened it, her hands shaking, and read the six words: “You’re right. I’m leaving. Don’t look.”

"Why?" she whispered, her voice breaking.

"I don't know," Gibson said, his eyes filled with a deep sadness. "But I'll help you find out."
