I Fell For A Girl I Can't Be With
Molly Palmer’s first day as a medical intern at St. Jude’s Hospital was a disaster. She arrived eager and bright-eyed, only to be met with scorn by her supervisor—her estranged father, Dr. Donald Wright. He dismissed her as naive, telling her she wasn’t there to save lives but to follow orders. Humiliated, Molly skipped work the next day, burying her dreams beneath tears and self-doubt.
That evening, her phone rang.
“You didn’t come to work today,” Dr. Wright’s voice was gruff.
“I know,” Molly whispered.
“Did you become a doctor to help people or to impress me?” he asked.

Molly returned to the hospital the next morning, steeled by her father’s unexpected encouragement.
Her first patient was Mrs. Pingrave, a woman with sudden facial paralysis. Molly examined her, noting the tension in her eyes and the way she flinched at touch.
“Does it hurt here?” Molly asked, gently pressing her temple.
Mrs. Pingrave hesitated. “No.”
“Any history of migraines?”
“Sometimes,” she murmured.
Molly sensed something was amiss. She ordered tests and asked her colleague, Albert, to assist.
Later, Albert approached her. “Her husband’s here. He’s... intense.”
Molly met Mr. Pingrave—a towering man with a cold gaze.
“I’m taking my wife home,” he declared.
“She needs further observation,” Molly replied.
“She’s fine.”
Dr. Wright intervened. “Mr. Pingrave is a respected man. We can’t detain his wife against her will.”
Molly protested. “She’s scared. I believe she’s being abused.”
“We can’t risk the hospital’s reputation,” Dr. Wright said.
Determined, Molly devised a plan. She asked Albert to distract Mr. Pingrave while she spoke to Mrs. Pingrave.
“Your face—it’s paralyzed because of your husband, isn’t it?” Molly asked gently.
Mrs. Pingrave’s eyes welled up. “He didn’t mean to...”
“You don’t have to go back. We can protect you.”
Suddenly, Mr. Pingrave burst in. “What are you telling her?”
“She’s staying here,” Molly stood firm.
He lunged at her, but security intervened. The police arrived moments later, arresting him for assault and domestic abuse.
Dr. Wright approached Molly afterward. “You took a risk.”
“I did what was right.”
He nodded. “Your mother would be proud.”
Molly smiled, a sense of purpose rekindled.
